August 28th, 2003 Racing
After losing the engine in the primary car Saturday at the Blue races there was alot of question as to whether the team would be back for the races. After alot of working switching the Norway car over, the team showed up for the final night of Thursday Night Thunder for 2003. In qualifying Mark turned a lap of 19.851 which was a very good lap for it being the first time the car has been on the track this year. In the dash Mark started 5th and took it easy bringing the car home in 6th place. In the feature event Mark was lined up 10th (outside row 5), as the field took the green flag and headed out of turn 2, contact was made between the 2nd and 3rd place cars which resulted in a big pile up. Mark's spotters did a great job of calling the accident and telling Mark to lock up the brakes. Mark was able to stay out of the wreck, unfortunately when he hit the brakes as hard as he did bolts sheared off on the brake assembly which resulted in a short night. Mark finished the feature in 13th place, but accomplished what they set out to do and that is finish 3rd in points. To switch a car over that was setup for the smaller Norway track and bring it to WIR and qualify for the dash shows committment!
Qualifying: 5th - 19.851
