August 7th, 2003 Racing

When the name Thursday Night Thunder came out, it was named after the racing on the track, but lately the name fits the weather also. This evening rain swept through the area which took most of the practice time away. The Late Models were given qualifying laps after the track was dried. Mark turned a 19.769 which put him 6th fastest. Mark started on the pole for the dash which gave him a good shot at the win, unfortunately Mark was spun out which put Mark to the back. Mark rode the race out and came home in 6th place. The feature event was fantastic, probably one of the best features of the season at Wisconsin International Raceway. Mark started the feature in 10th place, outside row 5, at the drop of the green it came apparent that the inside lane was the line that was moving. Mark was able to slip into the inside line, after that car just took off to the front. Mark made most of the passes on the outside line as he worked traffic. The car was just unbelievely fast, Mark was held up by 2 slower cars that cost him alot of time, with 2 laps to go Mark was right on the 2nd place car rear bumper. Had Mark not been held up by the slower cars he might have had a shot at the feature win.

The crew stated they made two major changes to the car before the feature and the car just became a rocket. The season is slowly coming to an end, but the Schroeder team have not given up!
