July 17th, 2003 Racing
After having a rain out last week, it was nice to have a nice weather for a change. The night started out great and just continued on through out the night. In qualifying Mark turned a 19.715 which put him 2nd place right behind the points leader. The format tonight was heat races and no dashes, with the fast lap it put us in the fast heat (heat 4). In the heat race Mark lined up 8th (outside row 4), he took his time as he knew he had a 50 lap feature to run at the end of the night. Mark worked through traffic and came home 6th place. Mark lined up 9th (inside row 5) for the feature event and quickly moved forward taking his time as there were 20 more laps than normal. Mark rode for a while and then started putting on the pressure and moved up a few positions as some cars dropped back. With around 10 laps to go Mark was up to 3rd place and challenging for 2nd place, Mark knew he had the faster car, but hung where he was and finished a strong 3rd place!
A busy week might be ahead for Schroeder Motorsports as Mark would like to run Thursday at WIR, Friday at Norway, Saturday at Minnesota where are a MARS race is held and then Sunday head to 141 Speedway for a Late Model Special. We will keep you informed.
