June 26th, 2003 Racing
With the weather on the chilly side it was time for another night of Thursday Night Thunder. Mark qualified 3rd fastest with a lap of 19.652 which put him in the fast dash. Mark was lined up 4th (2nd row outside) in the dash. At the green flag everyone stayed pretty tight togethor and the outside lane was moving. Mark was able to gain 2 spots and was passed by Terry Baldry, bringing the car home in 4th place. The feature line up had Mark in 7th (inside row 4). The green flag flew and the flagman brought the yellow out on the back stretch because the leader jumped the start. The race was set to restart when it was noticed that oil was all around the track. After a lengthy clean up the race was restarted. According to the rules if you go into the pit area you go to the rear of the field, but for some reason 2 drivers were allowed to have there spots back. One driver had transmission problems and only had 4th gear, this driver was right in front of Mark and brought the whole inside lane straight back. Mark was fighting hard on the outside and with around 10 laps to go Mark got into the outside wall coming out of the dogleg. After that Mark parked the car as he had heavy right side body damage and the right front tire was bent in. We will see you next Thursday night as we are not going to run the MARS race at the Milwaukee Mile.
