June 19th, 2003 Racing

After having a rough night night Saturday at the Red Race, the team got the car back togethor and ready to race tonight. Mark turned a fast qualifying lap of 19.568 which was 2nd fast. That put Mark in the back row of the dash (6 fastest cars). Mark was able to get up to 4th place, but ran out of laps to advance any further. In the feature event Mark was lined up in the 14th spot (outside of row 7). At the drop of the green the outside line was moving until the 2nd and 3rd place cars made contact with each other and brought out the caution. Back under green Mark stayed on the outside passing cars at a steady pace. Mark really showed some determination this week as he really moved through traffic. Mark was up to 5 place and had Rod Wheeler all over the back of him, instead of holding Rod up, Mark gave him the outside lane. Mark was following Rod Wheeler to the front, but time was running out fast. Mark was able to get by one more car which put him in the 5th spot with a chance of taking 4th place, but a lap car got in the way. We are still 3rd place in points and showing them all that we are contenders!
