July 20th, 2002 Racing

Saturday July 20th

After running Thursday night and having problems Mark and crew headed home where they worked on getting the car back togethor well into the morning. Friday night while Mark was up in Norway, Mark's crew chief Lee worked on the car. Saturday morning before heading to the track the car was worked on again. The car was all put back togethor completely with everything painted. Mark qualified 4th fastest with a time of 19.856 which put him in the field on time. In the first 50 Mark started 11th (inside row 6) at the start it was starting to rain out, Mark had his hand out the window many times during the feature telling the flagman to throw the yellow. Mark was hanging back not wanting to wreck the car, he lost quite a few positions before the caution finally came out. Once the race got back under way the line was moving and Mark was able to jump to the outside and make passes. At the checkers it was a 7th place finish, saving the car for the second 50. The second 50 lineup had Mark in 12th (outside row 6). During this race it took alot of outside passes to make it through the traffic. Baldry was already well ahead by the time Mark got through the traffic. Mark showed alot of muscle making the outside passes and finished in 7th place. Overall a great night of racing! Teamwork is what brought the car back to the track after Thursday Night.
