The 2002 season came to a start with a chill in the air, but the racing action would becoming HOT for Mark Schroeder! Mark started in the sixth place in the feature and started to fall back as the outside was slowed by a slower car. Mark was able to drop down into the inside and moved up to 5th place. Mark would have some problems with the 4th place car not picking a lane, but being the clean racer Mark is he was patient getting by the 4th place car. Mark would eventually get by him only to have the front 3 cars wreck and bring out a caution. This meant Mark was in second place and had to pass the guy he had trouble passing the first time. After the green flag Mark was able to dive under the leader coming out of turn 4. Mark would lead the race with Brad Mueller behind him, Mark stated at that point he was just saving the car because he clearly had the fastest car. As the checkered flag fell Mark won the feature race!!!!! Mark brought the Miller Lite, General Beer Northeast Monte Carlo to victory lane! This was Mark's first feature win at WIR since 1998. Great Job Mark and team you guys have worked super hard for this win!
