Thursday August 16th

What started out weather wise as if it was going to rain the wind picked up and blew the storm away from the track. The tempertures were lower and the rain from the day before must have washed the rubber of the track. Mark qualifed 8th with a 19.950 which would put him in heat #4. Mark would start in 8th place in the heat which looked like it was going to be a wild one. Mark pulled in as there was something wrong with the car. On the radio before the feature one of Mark's crew members said " Mark made the comment if he can get a good start he can with this feature." The line up for the feature had Mark in 4th place (outside of row 2). At the green the front 4 cars ran side by side eventually Mark and Brad "JJ" Mueller would pull ahead. It was obvious that Mark was able to get through the corners better than Brad. Mark would find an opening coming out of turn 2 and take the lead which he would hold for about 10 laps before JJ Smith started to hound him. Mark was trying his hardest to keep the lead, but JJ found a hole going down the front straight. Mark would fall back to second place and hold on for a strong finish!!! The crew mentioned on the radio that they may have motor problems, which could have kept Mark from advancing ahead of JJ. With this run it puts Mark up to 4th place in points!
