May 6th racing

Sunday May 6th

After losing one event to rain the race fans were ready for some racing! The weather started out kinda on the cloudy side and turned out to stay that way most of the day, but racing was able to go on! Mark set the fastest lap he has turned in the last couple of seasons turning a lap of 19.418. Mark was 4th fastest which allowed him to run the fast dash. He started on the inside of row 2, at the green flag mark moved into second spot. Mark was able to hang on for a couple laps before he would fall back to 4th place when the checkered flew. Twin 30 lap features were planned for the late models but with the weather getting worse they ran a 60 lap feature. Mark started deep in the feature and on the start Mark was ready to go, but the car in front of him wasn't. Mark ran into the back of the car which forced the hood up blocking Mark's vision. After making a pit stop to remove the hood Mark would restart in the tail since he went in the pits even though the race was started from the top. Mark would work his way up to 11th place and while battling for 10th place the 10th place car and Mark made contact. Mark was able to keep going, but the contact rule would send Mark to the tail again. Mark would march toward the front one more time, by now the tires were wearing out from the "marches". Mark worked very hard to get to the front again and would spin out in the dogleg. Mark would continue on after having 3 incidents and salvage a 11th place finish.
