June 14th racing

Thursday June 14th

The night started out with the sky looking like rain! The rain seemed to go around the track as only a few sprinkles fell. Qualifying would go on as planned and Mark turned a lap of 19.828 which was 6th fastest overall. That put Mark on the pole for the dash, heading for the green flag the outside pole driver didn't stay side by side with Mark and the race was restarted. Next time the green flag came out and Mark and Mike Gardner ran side by side for the whole race!! That was the best side by side racing I've see at the track in a while. Mark would gain enough of an advantage to win the dash for the second week in a row. Mark would start in 10th place (outside of row 5). The outside seemed to be the lane thatw as moving at the start. Mark would get up to around 6th spot and got held up behind one of the front row cars. Mark tried to go by on the top and the bottow but there wasn't a way around the driver as he didn't pick a lane. While heading for turn 1 Mark got under him and the driver chop down on Mark causing a spin out, as a result of the "contact rule" Mark was sent to the back. That ignited the fuel in Mark and he made a charge from dead last to 13th place but ran out of time. Mark dropped a spot in the points. He is now 6th in points with 281 points.
