May 25th Racing

May 25th, 2000 - After two weeks off because of rainouts the weather was perfect for racing. As qualifying time came the track was really fast. At the end of qualifying 20 some drivers were under 20 seconds. Mark turned a lap time of 19.822 which would be 12th fastest. Mark would have to run heat 4 which he would go on to finish 5th. Feature line up put Mark on the outside pole. At the green flag Mark and Mike Gardner were running side by side for 3 laps until Mark dropped the second spot. Mark would be past by a few cars but after caution came out he got those spots back. After many caution laps the race would go on. Having it be a 50 lap special Mark ran pretty good since the race was longer than normal. As 30 laps were down Mark started to pick up a few spots and was about to challenge for 5th when a caution came out again. When the checkers flew Mark was in 6th spot. Great job crew!
