September 9th Racing

September 9th, 2000 - After spending the day before practicing with the car Mark would bring a new car to the Jim Pagel Memorial. Mark ran a white paint scheme with a 2000 Monte Carlo body. Mark qualified 8th fastest with a 19.812. Mark started the first 50 in 3rd place and would stay in the top 5 for the race as he looked really smooth. He would make up ground on the leaders with about 15 laps to go but didn't have enough time to get around them. He would take a strong 4th place. After a break to make changes on the car and get it ready to go it was time for the 2nd 50. Mark was 14th on the grid at the start. He would work his way through traffic as he had to start deep in the feature. He would make it to the top 10 and was reeling in the leaders. At the checkers Mark would take a 9th place finish. This looks like the last night of racing for Mark for this season. Running two tracks weekly one night after another has taken a toll on Mark and the team. All and all it was a pretty good season, hopefully 2001 will be even better!
