August 19th Racing

August 19th, 2000 - Tonight was the final race of the red,white and blue state championship. Mark turned a time of 19.842 which was 7th fastest. Mark started around mid pack for the first 50 lapper. After being hung up by a slower car and getting pasted by others on the outside, Mark got by that car and moved up. He would catch back up to the lead pack but ran out of time and finished in 6th place. For the second 50 Mark again started about mid pack, but this race the car was a rocket! Mark was pretty much able to put the car where he needed to. He worked his way past Terry Baldry for 5th place and was gaining on the 4th place car. Mark was right on the bumper of Jeff Van Oudenhoven and coming out of turn 4 Mark was able to get a run on him. Mark pulled even with him and would eventually pass him going into turn 1. That now put Mark in 4th place and was gaining on the leaders. Mark had about 4 laps left to gain on the leaders but didn't have enough laps to pass them. Mark was turning 19.8 second laps consistantly. Great job Mark and team it looks like you have a Rocket for a car! Look for great things to come, maybe the first feature win of 2000 will come soon!!!
