July 20th Racing

July 20th, 2000 - What started out as a rainy looking day turned into a good night of racing. Right when the limited late models were to hit the track for qualifying it rained. After a short time to dry the track everything went smoothly. Mark qualified 8th fastest with a time of 19.814. Mark started in 8th place for heat 4, which was pretty much the tail end. Mark diced his way through traffic, even though it was trying at times. Mark worked the outside to take over 3rd place and at the checkers he would finish 3rd. The feature lineup had Mark on the outside pole. Mark ran side by side with Muenster until he slid in behind him. Mark continued to hold his own and around lap 13 going into turn 3 Mark took over the lead. The caution would fly meaning Mark would have to move back to 2nd place. After about a 30 minute delay the green flew again with 15 laps left to go. Mark would give Muenster all he had but it wasn't enough as Muenster hung on for the win. With a great run tonight Mark was able to break into the top 10 in points, he is now 9th in points.
