July 6th Racing

July 6th, 2000 - During practice Mark was able to stay right with the #8 car, which showed for a promising night. Mark turned a qualifying lap of 19.751 which was 9th fastest.. Mark started toward the front of heat 4, but at the start the outside moved by as Mark was behind a slower car. Mark was never able to get to the high side to get around him. Coming out of turn four Mark had a bolt break causing the right wheel not to turn with the left wheel. After getting the tow to the pits Mark and team worked to get the car fixed. Mark started on the inside of row 3 for the feature. Mark was again stuck behind a slower car ,waiting for a space up high eventually a space opened. Running mid pack Mark was making his way to the front when Mark was turned around on the backstraight. Because of the contact rule Mark was sent to the tail. Mark again worked his way up when contact was made with the car infront, which sent Mark again to the rear. Mark tried his hardest to get to the front but time was running out. Mark would get all he could but would finish 12th.
