June 17th Racing

June 17th, 2000 - The end of a busy week of racing is coming to an end. Mark raced Thursday (rained out), Friday, and today. The car seems better every time it hits the track. During qualifying Mark seemed to be able to stay right at the bottom of the track. Mark went out for his qualifying laps and both times were in the 19 second bracket. He would eventually have the 7th fastest time. In the first 50 lap feature Mark started on the outside and was able to get past some of the inside cars as the outside was moving. Mark would get passed by some cars but got into some open track and was able to put the car where he wanted to. He would began to gain on the front running cars. He qas able to get to 6th place with the laps winding down, Mark said he would ride where he was and save the tires. The second 50 took the green but would be red flagged as a two car wreck happened as the green game out. After about an hour red flag the green was back out. Not long after Mark had some cars on his bumper. Mark made them work for the spot and had them use the outside line. Mark had a close call as two cars spun right infront of him in turn 2. Mark would get back in his rhythm and put a charge toward the front cars. As it became near the end of the race the tires started to go away. Mark said " I think I will take what we have."
