August 21th Racing

August 21th, 1999 - For the Red, White, Blue State Championship the top 14 in qualifying make it in on time. Mark was able to make it in on time and was 9th fastest. For the first 50 lapper Mark had to be push started. After getting out on the track the car wasn't running at top power so in the pits he went. After looking at the engine they found something with the spark plugs. They put new plugs in and went out and the car wasn't running good yet. The gap on one of the plugs was off. Which would lead to a 20th place finish. Time came for the second 50 lap feature and Mark started near the back. Mark was really making his way through traffic passing cars on the inside and outside. He would make it up to about 11th and was held up my Tony "The Tiger" Strupp. On the restart Mark would go around on the outside. Mark was making a hole for Mike Reichenberger and Randy Rasmussen through traffic. At the end Mark finished 5th and got an award for passing the most cars in the feature!!! Nice job Mark.

Second 50 Lapper - 5th
Points - 9th place in MARS series, 260 behind point leader Lowell Bennett
