May 2nd Racing

May 2nd, 1999- For the season opener at Wisconsin International Raceway Mark was 2nd driver to go out for qualifying. Mark had a pretty good first lap but on his second lap he got a 19.730. That was good enough to get him to become fast qualifier. In the dash the car wasn't running the best, so Mark took it easy saving the car for the feature. Mark ran real well in the feature and made his way to 7th before the first 3 cars made contact which mark moved to 4th. Couple laps later Mark passed Terry Baldry for 3rd. Mark would go on to finish 3rd after having many cautions which slowed the cars down. Was a great way to start the season. As soon as the feature was done it was time to head for Slinger.
After packing up, then was the long drive to Slinger. We got to the track during qualifiying. Mark was 8th fast but since he got there late he had to start in the back of the pack for the feature. He was making his way though the pack and was in 10th place. With 2 laps left and in 10th place Mark got a flat tire and stop in turn 2. The yellow was not thrown they let the race finish. Was a pretty good day. Would have been better if the tire didn't go flat.
See you thursday!!
