July 22nd Racing

July 22nd, 1999 - Mark seemed to be running pretty good laps during hot laps. Once the time came for qualifying his fast lap was a 20.015. He hasn't been able to crack the 20's the last 2 weeks and hasn't made the dash. So that shows the car isn't dailed in completely. The time was good enough for 9th fastest, so he had to run the 4th heat. Mark got pass a few cars but was stuck behind drivers that weren't picking a lane. Mark went on to finish 4th in heat 4. He has a 3rd place starting spot for the feature. At the start Mark got by John Sturm and was working on the first 2 cars. There was no where to go the front 2 cars were battling side by side. When they finally got split up Mark go past Ben Brinkman and was closing the gap on Andy Weyenberg. But as this was going on the Baldry, Bennett, and Duchow were closing in. Before Mark could make the pass on Weyenberg, Baldry was on the outside of Mark. Duchow and Bennett followed. When he got pass Weyenberg he held of challenges of Duchow and held on for 4th place in the feature. The car is getting better each week, but still isn't to it's best yet. Mark is now sitting 4th in points tied with Baldry.

Qualifying - 9th with a time of 20.015
Heat 4 - 4th
Feature - 4th
Points - 4th place tied with Baldry, 107 points behind points leader weber.
