June 24th Racing

June 24th, 1999 - During hot laps there was a wreck is the dogleg, which would take most of the hot lap time away. So most people's cars weren't perfect. Mark went out and turned a second lap of 19.951. The clock took the time this week not like the previous week. The time would stand up to be 5th fastest. Mark would start on the outside of the front row. At the green flag Bennett took off right away and look like Mark was getting passed by everyone low. Mark powered by them and jumped on the inside right behind Bennett. Bennett had a long distance. At the checkered he would finish 2nd. It came time for the feature and Mark would start inside of row 3. After taking to the track the crew did a radio check and Mark wasn't responding. They asked Mark to wave at the spotter hill if he could hear them. He didn't wave which means Mark had no radio communication with the team. So instead of trying to take postions with no help from the crew he stayed right where he was. We would go on to finish 8th place in the feature. We remained 4th in the points 28 behind Duchow for 3rd and 59 out of 1st.
