June 17th Racing

June 17th, 1999 - Mark started the night off by setting a time of 19.878 which was good enough for 3rd fastest. Mark started on the outside of the second row. The first start Weber jumped, so their was a restart. On the restart Mark had taken 3rd spot in turn 2 when he was spun out. Shortly after getting the car restarted Mark took the car to the pits. In the feature Mark started deep in the field. He was starting to make his way to the front. He had just taken over 6th spot when Wheeler lost his power steering. There was oil all over the track, so much they couldn't see out their windshield. Mark pulled into the inside and slowed and pull his hand out the window to tell them there is oil on the track. They continued to run laps until 5 laps later they finally through the yellow. After throwing the yellow Mark pulled right into the pits because of all the oil on the windshield. It took them 5 times to get the windshield clean. When racing resumed Wheeler would blow his engind going into turn 3 which would collect the cars of Rick Spoo, Mike Reichenberger, JJ Smith, and Rod Wheeler. Mark would go on to finish 12th since they threw the checkered flag. Mark is still 4th in points 52 points out of 1st and 14 points out of 3rd.
