June 3rd Racing

June 3rd, 1999 - Mark had the car all back togethor after wrecking at Norway last Friday. Mark went out for qualifying and set a very fast time for the first lap. The second lap he got loose in turn 1 which probably made the difference from being fast qualifier and 4th. Mark set a time of 19.787 which was 4th fastest. In the dash after 4 restarts because the leaders kept jumping the start. Mark got moved to the pole along with Terry Baldry along side of him. Baldry took off and Mark went on to finish a solid second. Mark started back aways in the field. After making his way through traffic. He got up to 3rd place and was gaining on Jim Weber, but after cautions Mark gained more on him. He just couldn't get around him. If it were a 50 lap race Mark would have had a shot at it. A top 5 is nothing to complain about. Great job guys. After racing tonight Mark stayed 4th in points but gained on Jim Duchow. Just 5 points out of 3rd place in points.
