May 27th, 1999 - Mark qualified 8th fastest. Which would not allow him to make the dash. He would take a 4th place finish in heat 4. It was a 50 lap feature for Thursday. Mark started on the outside of row 4. Mark quickly took position after position. By lap 6 he was up to 3rd place. Then there was another caution, after getting the green flag Mark grabbed 2nd spot. After following leader Rick Spoo for 5-10 laps there was yet another caution. On the restart Mark quickly grabbed 1ST PLACE!! Mark was pulling away from the field. It looked as though the race was his victory. But then there was another last caution. It tighten everyone up. Mark tried his best to stay ahead on the restart but Jeff Van Oudehoven had to much for Mark. Mark was eventually get passed by Jeff Van Oudenhoven, Rod Wheeler, and Jim Weber. Mark brough home a 4th place finish. Personally I think Mark had the race until the last caution. The tie rod end went out on the car and a bolt on the front hub that holds the tire on was broke off.
